Located in the heart of picturesque Wollaton Village in the famous city of Nottingham, cricket has been played on the current ground since the end of the 19th Century.
The club has a fantastic history and is an excellent place to enjoy cricket, whether playing or spectating. The hospitality is as good as you will find (we have a fully-licensed bar) and makes for a fine picture on a summer's day – it has been used as a backdrop for television dramas on more than one occasion.
We are ECB Clubmark accredited and a Focus Club, with a family friendly nature. The club has almost 200 junior players ranging from 6 to 15 years old, boys and girls. Our main club night, Friday, can see about 100 juniors playing and their parents enjoying a social drink during the evening.
Wollaton Cricket Club were one of the founding members of the Nottinghamshire Premier League in 1999 and the senior section of the club now runs five teams - three on a Saturday and two on a Sunday. The senior teams include many former junior players as well as current older juniors. The Saturday teams play in the Gunn & Moore South Notts league and the Sunday teams play in the Newark Alliance.
We have links throughout the world, in as far reaching places such as Guyana, Melbourne, Sydney, New Zealand and the Philippines. Ex-players include former England Test stars Tim Robinson and Chris Read; former England U-19s Captain Paul McMahon and New Zealand International Rob Nicol.
We are continually improving our facilities, with new fixed nets, new covers, new sight screens and ground maintenance equipment among the capital investments made over the past 10 years. In 2010 we erected a new electronic scoreboard and the refurbishment and improvement of the pavillion was recently completed.
We are to be found close to the landmark Admiral Rodney pub, where, if the club bar isn't open, you will probably find a couple of the diehard supporters more than ready to share their views on the cricket they have witnessed in this crucible. We always welcome new members and if you wish to learn more please do not hesitate to contact us.
